Jesus Bids Us Shine

Author: Anna B. Warner Hymnal: Christian Hymns #394 (1935) First Line: Jesus bids us shine, with a clear pure light Lyrics: 1 Jesus bids us shine with a clear pure light, Like a little candle, burning in the night; In this world of darkness, we must shine, You in your corner, and I in mine. 2 Jesus bids us shine first of all for Him, Well He sees and knows it if our lights are dim; He looks down from heaven, sees us shine, You in your corner, and I in mine. 3 Jesus bids us shine then for all around, Many kinds of darkness in this world are found-- Sin, and want, and sorrow; so we shine, You in your corner, and I in mine. Anonymous

Person Name: Unknown Composer of "[Jesus bids us shine]" in Choice Light and Life Songs In some hymnals, the editors noted that a hymn's author is unknown to them, and so this artificial "person" entry is used to reflect that fact. Obviously, the hymns attributed to "Author Unknown" "Unknown" or "Anonymous" could have been written by many people over a span of many centuries.
