We Will Work and Pray

Author: Sallie Keep Best Appears in 4 hymnals First Line: Let us work and wait, let us watch and pray Refrain First Line: We will work, we will wait Lyrics: 1 Let us work and wait, let us watch and pray, Till the battle here is o’er; Till we rest with Christ in His heavenly home, On that bright and shining shore. Refrain: We will work, we will wait, We will always watch and pray, We will work, we will wait, We will watch, always watch and pray. 2 Let us work and pray, care will drift away If we toil with prayerful thought, And we ne’er may know as we onward go, What a crown of joy we’ve wrought. [Refrain] 3 Let us work and pray lest the tempter come And should find an idle hand, For He ne’er will stay, but will speed away From a working, praying band. [Refrain] 4 Christ will lead us on through the valleys deep Where the gentle waters flow, Guide and keep our feet, should the way be steep He’ll be with us where we go. [Refrain] Used With Tune: [Let us work and wait, let us watch and pray]
