Onward!

Author: Ida L. Reed Hymnal: Triumphant Songs No.4 #178 (1894) First Line: Onward, onward, joyfully we go dear Savior Refrain First Line: Onward, onward, joyfully we go dear Savior Lyrics: 1 Onward, onward, joyfully we go dear Savior, Strengthened in Thy love we will no evil fear; Gladly, gladly, by Thy help, the way we’re keeping, And Thy loving smile doth all our pathway cheer. Blessed Light, shine on amid the gloom forever, Guide us in love and make our vision clear. Refrain: Onward, onward, joyfully we go dear Savior, Thou art our God, we fully trust in Thee. 2 Onward, onward, this shall be our watchword ever, Onward, onward, upward to the realms above; Marching, marching, ‘neath the banner of King Jesus, Forward, joyfully at His command we move. Toiling, toiling on amid the heat of battle, Serving with gladness, Him whose cause we love. [Refrain] 3 Onward, onward, soon the battle will be over, Then we all, as victors, shall before Him stand; Crowns of glory to each one will then be given, And a palm of vict’ry for the toil-worn hand. Then our Lord will wipe away our tears forever, And He will welcome us to Eden-land. [Refrain] Tune Title: [Onward, onward, joyfully we go dear Savior]
