Author: Opal F. Brookover Hymnal: Timeless Truths #217 Meter: 8.8.8.8 with refrain First Line: The gospel bells ring joyfully Refrain First Line: Ring out, glad bells Lyrics: 1 The gospel bells ring joyfully Across the land, across the sea, Now soft and low, now loud and strong, They chant to us a happy song. Refrain: Ring out, glad bells, How joyfully your music tells The blessed story of the free, Of peace and joy and liberty. 2 The gospel bells in music tell The story that we love so well, Of “peace on earth, goodwill to men”: Ring out, sweet bells, ring out again. [Refrain] 3 Ring out until the truth is heard, That Jesus gave His life, His word, To ransom all, both you and me— Oh, blessed, blessed victory. [Refrain] 4 Ring out, glad gospel bells, again, Repeat the everlasting strain, Till, all redeemed on yonder shore, We sing “goodwill” forevermore. [Refrain] Topics: Gospel Scripture: Luke 2:14 Tune Title: [The gospel bells ring joyfully]
