Trust Him while He gives you breath

Hymnal: International Song Service #224 (1895) First Line: Trust in God, for every blessing Lyrics: 1 Trust in God, for every blessing, Trust in God from day to day; When the stormy tempest rages, Go, by simple faith, and pray. Chorus: Trust Him while He gives you breath, Trust Him in the vale of death, Trust Him on the foamy sea, Trust Him thro' eternity. 2 God will never fail His children, If His promise they believe; In the precious name of Jesus All we ask, we shall receive. [Chorus] 3 Are the ties of earthly friendship Crushed and broken, one by one? Trust in God, and say, rejoicing, Lord, Thy will, not mine, be done! [Chorus] 4 Trust in God, the Rock of Ages, Then thy feet shall stand secure; Bear thy cross without repining, Patient to the end endure. [Chorus] Languages: English Tune Title: TRUST HIM ON THE FOAMY SEA

Philip Phillips

1834 - 1895 Composer of "TRUST HIM ON THE FOAMY SEA" in International Song Service Phillips, Philip, commonly known as the "Singing Pilgrim," was born in Chautauqua County, N. York, Aug. 13, 1834. Although engaged in farming for a time, from an early age he devoted himself to music, and ultimately devoted himself to the work of a "Singing Evangelist," in which capacity he has visited most English-speaking countries. His popular hymnals are: (1) Early Blossoms, 1860; (2) Musical Leaves, 1862; and (3) The Singing Pilgrim, 1866. In these works he published one or two hymns, including "I have heard of a Saviour's love" (The love of Christ), as in I. D. Sankey's Sacred Songs and Solos, 1878. --John Julian, Dictionary of Hymnology, Appendix, Part II (1907)
