Which takes the course of what God has made;
And is not trusting in walls and towers,
But slowly growing from seeds to flowers.
2 Each noble service that has been wrought
Was first conceived as a fruitful thought;
Each worthy cause with a future glorious
By quietly growing becomes victorious.
3 There by itself like a tree it shows:
That high it reaches as deep it grows
And when the storms are its branches shaking,
It deeper root in the soil is taking.
4 Be then no more by a storm dismayed,
For by it the full-grown seeds are laid;
And though the tree by its might it shatters,

Ellen Jane Lorenz
1907 - 1996 Harmonizer of "GOD'S PLAN" in The Hymnal of The Evangelical United Brethren Church Ellen Jane Lorenz (Ellen Jane Lorenz Porter) was born in 1907 in Dayton, OH. A descendant of the well known publishing family of Lorenz, she served as editor for the company for 36 years. She earned a Masters of Sacred Music degree from Wittenberg University in 1971. Her PhD thesis was transformed into the book Glory, Hallelujah: the Story of the Campmeeting Spiritual published by Abingdon Press in 1980. She was well known as a composer and received many commissions for anthems, cantatas, vocal and instrumental works. 1877 - 1970 Person Name: J. A. Aaberg Translator of "That Cause Can neither Be Lost nor Stayed" in A Hymnal for Friends Jens Christian Aaberg (b. Moberg, Denmark, 1877; d. Minneapolis, MN, 1970) immigrated to the United States in 1901. Educated at Grand View College and Seminary in Des Moines, Iowa, he entered the ministry of the Danish Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and served congregations in Marinette, Wisconsin; Dwight, Illinois; and Minneapolis, Minnesota. Aaberg wrote Hymns and Hymnwriters of Denmark (1945), translated at least eighty hymns from Danish into English, and served on four hymnal committees. In 1947 King Frederick of Denmark awarded him the Knight Cross of Denmark.
