Follow, Gladly Follow

Author: Anna Richarde Appears in 9 hymnals First Line: Follow the steps of Jesus Refrain First Line: O follow, follow gladly Lyrics: 1 Follow the steps of Jesus, Follow ev'ry day; Turn not aside nor falter, Keep the narrow way. Jesus the meek and lowly Walked thro' life below, Marking a beaten pathway, O in that pathway go. Refrain: O follow, follow gladly, In the path your Lord has trod, He is your light By day and night, He leadeth you to God; O follow, follow gladly, There are blessings on the way; Turn not aside, But watch your Guide, Who leads you to endless day. 2 Oft on a lonely mountain; Oft 'neath olive's shade, Jesus your great Example, King and Saviour prayed. Now in His footsteps follow, Lead a life of pray'r, He is a home preparing, You shall His glory share. [Refrain] 3 Helping the weak and weary, Christ your Saviour went, Seek now to be His stewards On His work intent. Seek out the heavy hearted, Seek the lost one too; Follow the steps of Jesus, Do what He'd have you do. [Refrain] Used With Tune: [Follow the steps of Jesus]

Children, The Wide World Over

Author: Flara Kirkland Appears in 2 hymnals Refrain First Line: O children, rally round Him Lyrics: 1 Children, the wide world over, Rally round your king; Join in the angel chorus, Let your voices ring. Once in a lowly manger, Now exalted high; Children, the wide world over, Sing, for the time draws nigh! Refrain: O children, rally round Him, Who was laid in manger low; The kingly Babe whose advent night Was lit by star’s bright glow. O children, rally round Him, On His birth night, welcome sing! Let earth respond while Heaven sings! O sing! little children, sing! 2 Children, the wide world over, Tell the story sweet; Teach other hearts to praise Him; Bring them to His feet. Come, as the sages, bearing, Gifts, in worship true, Bring as your gift to Jesus Some one to love Him too. [Refrain] 3 Tell how the Babe of Heaven Came in matchless love— Came from the heights of glory That dear love to prove. Tell how He brought salvation To this world below! Tell how He gives in mercy Balm for the whole world’s woe. [Refrain] Used With Tune: [Children, the wide world over] Text Sources: Sunday School Hymns No. 1 (New York: Tullar-Meredith Company, 1903)
