Pray for the Fallen

Author: Martha J. Lankton Hymnal: On Joyful Wing #57 (1886) First Line: Pray for the fallen! oh, think of them kindly Refrain First Line: Pray for them earnestly, pray for them faithfully Lyrics: 1 Pray for the fallen! oh, think of them kindly, Take them to Jesus, his mercy implore; Though they have wandered, and sad their condition, Prayer and our efforts their souls may restore. Refrain: Pray for them earnestly, pray for them faithfully, Prayers will be answered through Jesus’ dear name; Pray for them fervently, loving, and tenderly,— Prayer and our efforts the lost may reclaim. 2 Pray for the fallen! oh, do not forsake them, Slaves to the tempter who laughs at their pain; Fast in the fetters he forged to deceive them, Pity and help them again and again. [Refrain] 3 Pray for the fallen, the world has renounced them! Keen are its glances, its censure is cold; Yet the dear Saviour will gently receive them, He will not turn them away from his fold. [Refrain] 4 Pray for the erring! oh, think of them kindly They are our neighbors, though far they have strayed; They are our brothers: go forth to their rescue! Give them our friendship, our comfort, our aid. [Refrain] Tune Title: [Pray for the fallen! oh, think of them kindly]
