1880 - 1950 Author of "Make Me a Blessing" in The Worshiping Church Ira Bishop Wilson, 1880-1950 Born: September 6, 1880, Bedford, Iowa. Died: April 3, 1950, Los Angeles, California. Buried: Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Glendale, California. Pseudonym: Fred B. Holton. Wilson’s sister taught him to play the violin and organ while still at home. Around 1902, Ira began studies at the Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, Illinois. In 1905, he went to work for the Lorenz Publishing Company in Dayton, Ohio. His compositions appeared in The Choir Leader and The Choir Herald; he also served as editor in chief of The Volunteer Choir. 1883 - 1969 Person Name: S. D. Athans Translator of "Hazme una Fuente de Bendiciones" in El Himnario Speros Demetrios Athans was born 1883 in Turkey. Raised in the Greek Orthodox Church, Athans left home at age 15, after his father’s death. He spent two years on the island of Corfu, Greece, and two more in Egypt, then went to Great Britain, where he worked as a sailor. In 1903 he went to America, and during immigration processing, someone gave him a New Testament in Greek. A year later, he joined a Nazarene church in Chicago, Illinois. He then enrolled in a Bible school and university. While in school in California, he began to study Spanish and to work with the Latino community. In 1910 he decided to work in evangelism.
