Now Join We to Praise the Creator

Author: Fred Kaan, b. 1929 Meter: 9.8.9.8 Appears in 10 hymnals Scripture: Genesis 8:22 Lyrics: 1 Now join we to praise the creator, Our voices in worship and song; We stand to recall with thanksgiving That to God all seasons belong. 2 We thank you, O God, for your goodness, For the joy and abundance of crops, For food that is stored in our larders, For all we can buy in the shops. 3 But also of need and starvation We sing with concern and despair, Of skills that are used for destruction, Of land that is burnt and laid bare. 4 We cry for the plight of the hungry While harvest are left on the field, For orchards neglected and wasting, For produce from markets withheld. 5 The song grows in depth and in wideness; The earth and its people are one. There can be no thanks without giving, No words without deeds that are done. 6 Then teach us, O Lord of the harvest, To be humble in all that we claim; To share what we have with the nations, To care for the world in your name. Topics: Sharing Used With Tune: HARVEST

Noah; or, the Covenant of the Bow

Meter: Irregular Appears in 2 hymnals Scripture: Genesis 9:13 First Line: Let nations who tremble in fear of a flood Lyrics: 1 Let nations who tremble in fear of a flood, Look up to the cloud, see the bow of their God, And resting in peace, on the promise divine, Remember 'twas made, for the ages of time: 2 Then Jesus the Saviour, translating the bow, From thence to his head, and descending below, Shall finish the myst'ry, that mercy began, Blest fulness of grace and salvation for man. 3 Hail Alpha, Omega, the first and the last! Thy purposes future, the present, and past, All centre in one—'tis thy crown on the throne, That the kingdoms of earth, become, Lord, thy own. 4 Oh Jesus, Imman'el, the rainbow display! Thy arch as the Master, mid mansions of day, Extend from the east, to the night of the west, And closing of time, give thy labourers rest. Topics: Patriarchal Types, and Prophecies of Christ
