Full Text

1 Der Døden slog Herodes ned,
Sin Engel Gud udsendte,
Vor Jesus af Landflygtighed
Hjem til sit Folk at hente.

2 Der er dog end en liden Plet,
Hvor han kan bo og bygge,
Udi det ringe Nazaret
Der faar han Skjul og Skygge.

3 O Jesus, naar jeg tænker paa
Din Flugt, din Sorg og Møie,
Og alt det Had, som paa dig laa,
Staar Graaden i mit Øie.

4 Jeg er, o Jesus, som du ser,
En arm Udlænding bleven,
I Verdens Trældom, Dynd og Ler,
Vidt fra din Himmel dreven.

5 Dog henter du mig hjem igjen
Til din saa søde Hvile,
Min Sorg med Tiden slides hen,
Du til min Hjælp skal ile.

6 Og om en Sorg i Verden skal
Den anden Haanden række,
Saa kan dog du min Jammers Tal
Med Miskundheder dække.

7 Und mig et ringe Nazaret,
En liden rolig Rede,
Hvor jeg af Gud kan blive mæt,
Og Jesus kun oplede.

8 Saa skal jeg da i Fryd og Ro,
O Jesus, dig omfavne,
I Himlens rette Hjem og Bo
Fra alle Sorger havne.
