Dear Friend of Hymnary,

As you know, we don't ask for money too often. But we're asking now.

So before you hit the "close" button on this box, please consider a donation to keep Hymnary going.

More than half a million people come here every month -- worship leaders, hymnologists, hymn lovers and more -- people who now have access to the most complete database of North American hymnody on the planet thanks to this site. But keeping all of this afloat does not come without a cost, and we have limited sources of revenue. So if you benefit from Hymnary.org, would you please consider a donation today? Even small amounts help, and they also let us know you're behind us and support what we do.

You can make your tax-deductible contribution by clicking the Donate button below, or you can send a check to Hymnary at 3201 Burton SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49546.

On behalf of the entire Hymnary team,
Harry Plantinga

Full Text

1. God’s great power divine now has given us
All we need for life and true godliness,
Through our knowing Him who has callèd us
And for His own glory given promises.

Refrain
He has given us His promises,
Very great and precious promises,
So we’ll be like Him, cleansed from all past sin.
Yes, our God has given us His promises.

2. To your faith add goodness and knowledge true,
Then add self-control, perseverance, too.
Then add godliness, kindness, then add, too,
Love to all, confirming God’s great promises. [Refrain]

3. If you have these traits in increasing store,
They will keep you from unproductive lore.
You’ll effective be knowing Christ our Lord,
Because God has given us His promises. [Refrain]

4. Any person lacking these qualities
Is nearsighted, blind, and he does not see.
He’s forgotten he from his sin is free
And that God has given us His promises. [Refrain]

5. So be eager now; make your calling sure.
If you do these things, you will fall no more.
You’ll be welcomed richly by Christ our Lord
And gain His kingdom, through His promises. [Refrain]
