1 Gud Fader lig at være,
Det var dig ei for stort,
O herre Jesus kjære!
Du gav altsammen bort,
Fornedred dig, og kom
Til os i største Nøden,
Blev lydig indtil Døden,
Ja Korsets Død og Dom.

2 Derfor har Gud ophøiet
Dig over Englehær,
Og dig et Navn tilføiet,
Velsignet af enhver,
Langt over alle Navn;
Gud lad det aldri glemmes,
Gud lad det trolig gjemmes
Udi vort Hjertes Favn!

3 I jesu Nav sig bøie
Hvert Knæ ydmygelig
I Himlene de høie
Og her paa Jorderig,
Dybt under ligervis,
Og Tunge hver bekjende,
At han er uden Ende
En ˙erre til Guds Pris!

4 Nu alt, hvorom vi bhede
Vor Gud i Jesu navn,
Skal gives os til Glæde
Og vore Sjæles Gavn.
Lær os, o Helligaand,
I Jesu navn at raabe,
At bie, tro og haabe
Vor Frelse af hans Haand!
