Representative Text

1 Lovet være du Jesu Christ,
At du menneske vorden est,
Født af en Jomfru ren og klar,
Thi glæde sig alle Engle-Skar'.
Kyrie eleis!

2 Den evige Faders enest Søn
Er født for os til stor Trældom;
Vort krænkeligt Kjød han paa sig tog,
Deri sig klædte det evige God'.
Kyrie eleis!

3 Den, som Alverden ei rumme kan,
I Jomfruens Skjød saa ligger han,
Han vorden er et Barn saa spæd,
Hvem Himmel og Jord opholdes ved.
Kyrie eleis!

4 Det evige Lys gaar nu herind,
Som giver al Verden et ny Skin,
Som lyser for os ved Midnatstid,
At vi kunne kjende vor Fader blid.
Kyrie eleis!

5 Gud Faders Søn som selv Gud er,
En Gjæst er vorden i Verden her,
Og fører af den jammerlig' Dal
Og giver os Arv i Himmerigs Sal.
Kyrie eleis!

6 Han er paa Jorden kommen arm,
At han vilde sig over os forbarm'
Og os i Himmerig gjøre rig;,
Hans Hellige Engle at være lig.
Kyrie eleis!

7 Alt dette haver han os tilvendt,
Derpaa vi have hans Kjærlighed kjendt;
Derved sig glæde al Christenhed
Og takke hannem i Evighed!
Kyrie eleis!
