During our last fund drive a donor said this: "Covid-19 rules prevent us from singing during my husband's burial service, so we will play the tune while we read the printed words or hum along with the music." Needless to say, this testimony struck us and stuck with us. We never know on any given day how Hymnary.org will be a blessing to people, but we know that around the world, the site is making a powerful difference in the lives of many.

Thanks to all who use Hymnary.org and all who support it with gifts of time, talent and treasure. If you feel moved to support our work today with a gift of any amount and a word of encouragement, we would be grateful.

What though my joys and comfort die?
The Lord my savior liveth.
What though the darkness gather round?
Songs in the night he giveth.

1 Naar mig min Synd vil krænke,
O søde Jesus Krist,
Da lad mig vel betænke,
At du korsfastet est,
Og al min Syndestraf og Ve
Har taget da du døde,
Med dig paa Korsets Træ.

2 O hvilke dybe Sager,
Hvor undres ei min Sjæl,
Man Herren ilde plager
Istedet for hans Træl!
Den Herre Krist og sande Gud
For mig fortabte Synder
Har Dødsstraf standet ud!

3 Hvad skulde nu mig skrække
Min Synd saa mangeled?
Nu Jesus vil mig dække
Med sin Retfærdighed.
Min Skyld betales med hans Død,
Saa at jeg ei tør frygte
For Helveds Kval og Glød.

4 Thi siges af mit Hjerte,
Min Herre Jesus sød,
For al din Angst og Smerte
Dig Tak indtil min Død,
For dine Saar, din blodig Sved,
For din uskyldig Pine,
Og for din Kjærlighed!

5 Ak, lad din Pinsels Plage
Hver Rime og hvert Sted
Mig minde, at forsage
Al Synds Begjærlighed,
Ja lad mig ei evindelig
Forglemme hvad det kosted,
Da du forløste mig!

6 Hjælp mig med Taal at bære
Mit Kors og al Fortræd,
Samt Spot og al Vanære,
Som jeg bebyrdes med,
At jeg al Verden siger af,
Og følger det Eksempel,
Som du mig, Jesus, gav.

7 Hjælp, at jeg gjør mod Andre,
Som du mod mig har gjort,
I Kjærlighed kan vandre,
Og ikke agte stort,
Hvad jeg hengiver i dit Navn
Med en god Hjertens Vilje
Til mine Brødres Gavn.

8 Og naar min Død tilstunder,
Da lad mig finde Trøst
I dine Saar og Vunder,
Og tro for ganske vist,
At som mit Haab er sat til dig,
Saa skal jeg dig bekomme,
At se evindelig!
