Not far from the kingdom, why will you delay

Representative Text

1 Not far from the kingdom, why will you delay?
Since Jesus, the Savior, is calling today;
Oh, why are you waiting, say, why will you die?
Not far from the kingdom, why halting so nigh?

Chorus:
Not far, Not far,
Not far from the kingdom of God
Not far, Not far,
Not far from the kingdom of God.

2 Not far from the kingdom, the Lamb has been slain,
And pardon is offered again and again;
Then tarry no longer, the Spirit says come,
The Father is waiting to welcome you home. [Chorus]

3 Not far from the kingdom, we're praying for you,
Believe on the Savior, behold Him in view;
Obey Him, and serve Him, His Spirit He'll give,
Not far from the kingdom, oh, turn you and live. [Chorus]

4 Not far from the kingdom, and yet to be lost,
Salvation is purchased, Christ's blood it has cost;
Almost now persuaded, redemption is nigh,
The harvest is passing, Oh, why will ye die? [Chorus]

While the ball was going on he was converted, ceasing to play in the middle of the piece he was performing. Very soon thereafter he entered the ministry of the Christian Church. On the 11th of January, 1855, he married Miss Martha Finley.
