Søde Jesus, kom at røre

Full Text

1 Søde Jesus, kom at røre
Mig ved din den gode Aand,
Aabne mit tunghørig Øre,
Tag mit Hjerte i din Haand!
Følg mig, før mig, hvor jeg gaar,
At i Lydighed jeg staar,
Til din Vilje ret at gjøre,
Og dit Ord med Fryd at høre!

2 Under dine Hπanders Skygge
Og udi din Kirkes Bo
Lad mig altid hos dig bygge,
Styrk mig, hold mig i din Tro!
Hug hver syndig Tanke ned,
Som til Synd og Sikkerhed
Vil med Ondskab mig forlede,
Hug den af, det vil jeg bede!

3 Du al Verdens Lust og Glæde,
Du al Jordens Salighed,
Bliv dog hos mig, bliv tilstede,
Og min Sjæl for dig bered!
Helft i Dødens sidste Stund
Rør mit Hjerte, Aand og Mund,
Styrk min Tro, lad mit Elende
Sluttes med en salig Ende!

In 1661 he was appointed vicar to the pastor at Kirke Helsinge, and in 1668 he was ordained a minister at his native town, where his poetic activity began. GENEVAN 42

Louis Bourgeois (PHH 3) composed or adapted this tune for Psalm 42 for the Genevan psalter. The 1564 harmonization by Claude Goudimel (PHH 6) originally placed the melody in the tenor.
