It Is Jesus

Representative Text

1 Who is this who for our sorrows offers comfort and relief,
Bringing sunshine to the dark and shadowed life?
Saying softly, "Cease repining, lift Thy soul above its grief,
Let the peace past understanding still the strife."

Refrain:
It is Jesus! Jesus!
Sad on, weep no more!
He will heal the broken-hearted,
Open wide the prison door.
He is able to deliver evermore.

2 Who is this who comes with healing for the halt, the blind, the lame,
Saying softly to the sinner, "Follow me;
Only come, in faith believing, as of old the people came,
And the lame shall walk, the blind again shall see." [Refrain]

3 Who is this who loves a sinner as a father loves his own,
Grieving over those who spurn His gentle plea?
Always ready to forgive them and to make forgiveness known,
Who is this forever calling you and me? [Refrain]
