Representative Text

1 With a word, you birthed creation,
giving shape to boundless space
casting light through velvet darkness
by the brilliance of your grace.
With a word, you formed all beings,
filling land, air, and sea;
human creatures, in your image,
by your sovereign, "Let there be."

2 With a word, you raised up prophets,
for a parched and yearning earth,
bringing hope to thirsty people
with the promise of new birth.
With a word you fired their visions
with the pow'r of your dreams;
"Let my justice roll like waters;
and my peace, like flowing streams."

3 With a Word, you came among us,
born in flesh and full of grace.
In the body of Christ Jesus,
you revealed your human face.
With his Word, you still inspire us
for the work that we do:
"Love and live for one another,
as I lived and died for you."
