1 The time has come that Jesus has decreed
When from all woe and sorrow I'll be freed.
Thou evil world I'll gladly bid farewell,
To me thy joys were but a prison cell.
2 Come then my soul and let us go from here
To where God's son and servants now appear
And let us join with that immortal throng
Who praise Him ever with triumphant song.
3 Yea, blest forever be this glorious day
When god Himself will start me on the way
To shed mortality, which blinds my sight
And will not let me see my heart's delight.
4 O Jesus Christ, my life, gained but through death,
My balm in pain, my friend in fear and dread;
With all my strength I now will cleave to Thee.
Pray, open Thou the gate of life to me.
5 In perfect trust I gave to Thee my soul,
Thou, Thou alone, hath saved and made me whole.
Accept me when I shed my mortal shell
And in Thy bosom let me rest and dwell.
6 Thou art my aim, my only goal and prize,
My focal point, my joy and paradise.
Thy grace alone can give my soul this peace.
Oh hear my daily prayers and fervent pleas.
7 Yet, willingly, here on this earth I'll stay
And will await Thy call, and hear Thee say:
"The time at last has come." Then I as bride
Will finally be at my bridegroom's side.
