O, Come, Little Children

Author: Ella May White Robinson Appears in 2 hymnals First Line: O come, little children, with hurrying feet Lyrics: 1 O come, little children, with hurrying feet; To Bethlehem hasten, a Baby to greet. God shows His great kindness on this holy night, By sending the Christ-child to bring us delight. 2 He lies in a manger, the beautiful Boy, His mother and father bend o’er Him with joy; Some shepherds kneel praying, their hearts full of love; The song of the angels floats down from above. 3 See, out from the manger there streams a clear light, That scatters the darkness and shines through the night; The face of the Baby who lies in that glow Is fairer and brighter than angels, we know. 4 O kneel like the shepherds, your hands fold in prayer, Give thanks, little children, for Jesus so fair; We’ll join with the angels, our voices we’ll raise, And sing to our Father a glad song of praise. Used With Tune: [O come, little children, with hurrying feet] Text Sources: The Concord Hymnal (Boston: E. C. Schirmer Music Company, 1920), alt.

O Come, Little Children

Author: Christian von Schmidt, 1768-1854 Meter: 11.11.11.11 Appears in 1 hymnal First Line: O come, little children, O come, one and all Lyrics: 1 O come, little children, O come, one and all. O come to the cradle in Bethlehem's stall. Come look in the manger, there sleeps on the hay, An infant so lovely, in light bright as day. 2 The hay is his pillow, the manger his bed. The beasts stand in wonder to gaze on his head. Yet there, in the stable, so humble and poor, Come shepherds and wise-men to kneel at his door. 3 O bow with the shepherds on low bended knee, With hearts full of thanks for the gift which you see. Come, lift up your voices the child to adore. Sing joy to the world, love and peace evermore. Topics: Christmas Used With Tune: IHR KINDERLEIN KOMMET Text Sources: Trans. unknown
