Constantly Abiding

Author: Anne S. Murphy Appears in 57 hymnals Scripture: Hebrews 13:5 First Line: There's a peace in my heart that the world never gave Refrain First Line: Constantly abiding, Jesus is mine Lyrics: 1 There’s a peace in my heart that the world never gave, A peace it cannot take away; Tho' the trials of life may surround like a cloud, I’ve a peace that has come there to stay! Chorus: Constantly abiding, Jesus is mine; Constantly abiding, rapture divine; He never leaves me lonely, whispers, O so kind: “I will never leave thee,” Jesus is mine. 2 All the world seemed to sing of a Savior and King, When peace sweetly came to my heart; Troubles all fled away and my night turned to day, Blessed Jesus, how glorious Thou art! (Chorus) 3 This treasure I have in a temple of clay, While here on His footstool I roam; But He’s coming to take me some glorious day, Over there to my heavenly home! (Chorus) Used With Tune: [There's a peace in my heart that the world never gave]

Now let us from this table rise

Author: Fred Kaan (b. 1929) Meter: 8.8.8.8 Appears in 42 hymnals Scripture: Hebrews 13:1-2 Lyrics: 1 Now let us from this table rise renewed in body, mind, and soul; with Christ we die and rise again, his selfless love has made us whole. 2 With minds alert, upheld by grace, to spread the Word in speech and deed we follow in the steps of Christ, at one with all in hope and need. 3 To fill each human house with love, it is the sacrament of care; the work that Christ began to do we humbly pledge ourselves to share. 4 Then grant us grace, Companion-God, to choose again the pilgrim way, and help us to accept with joy the challenge of tomorrow's day. All depends on our possessing

Author: Catherine Winkworth, 1827-78 Meter: 8.8.7.8.8.7 Appears in 26 hymnals Scripture: Hebrews 13:5-6 Lyrics: 1 All depends on our possessing God's free grace and constant blessing, though all earthly wealth depart. They who trust with faith unshaken by their God are not forsaken and will keep a dauntless heart. 2 He who to this day has fed me and to many joys has led me, is and ever shall be mine. He who always gently schools me and who daily guides and rules me, will remain my help divine. 3 When with sorrow I am stricken, hope my heart anew will quicken, all my longing shall be stilled. To God's lovingkindness tender soul and body I surrender, for on him alone I build. 4 Well he knows what best to grant me; all the longing hopes that haunt me, joy and sorrow, have their day. I shall doubt your wisdom never; as God wills, so be it ever; I commit to him my way. 5 If my days on earth he lengthen, God my weary steps will strengthen; all my trust in him I place. Things of earth are not abiding, like a stream away are gliding; safe I anchor in his grace. Topics: Blessing; Comfort; Grace; Grief; Protection; Providence; The way; Trust in God; Wisdom Used With Tune: ALLES IST AN GOTTES SEGEN Text Sources: Anon. in Gesang-buch, Nuremberg, 1676
