When We Walk with the Lord

Author: J. H. Sammis, d. 1919 Hymnal: The Hymnal of The Evangelical United Brethren Church #210 (1957) Meter: 12.9.12.9 with refrain First Line: When we walk with the Lord in the light of His word Refrain First Line: Trust and obey; for there's no other way Lyrics: 1 When we walk with the Lord in the light of His word, What a glory He sheds on our way! While we do His good will, He abides with us still, And with all who will trust and obey. Refrain: Trust and obey; for there’s no other way To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey. 2 Not a shadow can rise, not a cloud in the skies, But His smile quickly drives it away! Not a doubt nor a fear, not a sigh nor a tear, Can abide while we trust and obey. [Refrain] 3 Not a burden we bear, not a sorrow we share, But our toil He doth richly repay; Not a grief or a loss, not a frown or a cross, But is blessed if we trust and obey. [Refrain] 4 But we never can prove the delights of His love, Until all on the altar we lay, For the favor He shows, for the joy He bestows, Are for them who will trust and obey. [Refrain] 5 Then in fellowship sweet we will sit at His feet, Or we’ll walk by His side in the way; For the favor He shows, and the joy He bestows Are for them who will trust and obey. [Refrain] Scripture: Deuteronomy 11:26-28 Tune Title: TRUST AND OBEY

To Know That He Knows

Author: Charles W. Naylor; Clara M. Brooks Hymnal: Timeless Truths #388 Meter: 12.9.12.9 with refrain First Line: When my soul is oppressed with the sorrows of life Refrain First Line: Just to know that He knows, that my Lord understands Lyrics: 1 When my soul is oppressed with the sorrows of life, And the thought of the morrow alarms; With my care-laden heart, then, I flee from the strife, And I weep out my woes in His arms. Refrain: Just to know that He knows, that my Lord understands, And His look of compassion to see; Soothes the pain in my heart, is a balm for my wounds, Bringing comfort and peace unto me. 2 If my best efforts fail, though my friends may reprove, When I sigh for their solace and prayers, It will work for my good, if my Savior I love— He assures me He knows and He cares. [Refrain] 3 Though in trial I suffer, He keeps me content, Sees before me the dangers prepared; And in mercy His wisdom the flames may have sent, That my soul greater woe might be spared. [Refrain] 4 Yes, my failures He knows, and my sighs, and my tears, And the depth of my bitterest woes; By the deep consolation He brings for my fears, I am sure that my dear Savior knows. [Refrain] Scripture: Job 23:10 Tune Title: [When my soul is oppressed with the sorrows of life]
