There's Heaven In My Soul

Author: Mrs. C. H. M. Appears in 4 hymnals First Line: I have never found another friend like Jesus Refrain First Line: There is Heaven in my soul today Lyrics: 1 I have never found another friend like Jesus; Such undying love this world has never known; Altho' I had sinned, He justified me freely, and He calls me His beloved and His own. Chorus: There is Heaven in my soul today With Jesus ever with me on my Heav'n-bound way; For the rainbow of His love Shines upon me from above, And there's Heaven in my soul today. 2 Filled to overflowing is my cup of blessing, Walking with my Savior in the narrow way: "Fairest 'mong ten thousand" - "Lily of the Valley," He is all in all to me my heart can say. [Chorus] 3 Glory, hallelujah, how my heart keeps singing! Since I entered Canaan, oh, what joy is mine! Drinking at the fountain, from His bounty feasting On the grapes and honey, corn, and milk and wine. [Chorus] 4 Telling to the world of uttermost salvation; Freedom from the guilt and from the pow'r of sin, Preaching to the lost of ev'ry tribe and nation, We have Heaven here, to go to Heaven in. [Chorus] Used With Tune: [I have never found another friend like Jesus]

Mrs. C. H. Morris

1862 - 1929 Author of "There's Heaven In My Soul" Lelia (Mrs. C.H.) Morris (1862-1929) was born in Pennsville, Morgan County, Ohio. When her family moved to Malta on the Muskingum River she and her sister and mother had a millinery shop in McConnelsville. She and her husband Charles H. Morris were active in the Methodist Episcopal Church and at the camp meetings in Sebring and Mt. Vernon. She wrote hymns as she did her housework. Although she became blind at age 52 she continued to write hymns on a 28-foot long blackboard that her family had built for her. She is said to have written 1000 texts and many tunes including "Sweeter as the years go by." Mary Louise VanDyke
