Author: Priscilla J. Owens Appears in 9 hymnals First Line: O, turn not back in the Christian race Lyrics: 1 O, turn not back in the Christian race Till the prize is won we know; Reach up to Christ for abounding grace, Take hold and never let go! Refrain: Take hold, hold on, Hold fast and never let go! No matter how the wind in the tempest may blow, Take hold and never let go! 2 O, turn not back on life’s battle-field, Tho’ the world’s a mighty foe, God’s arms are round thee as a shield, Take hold and never let go! [Refrain] 3 Truth’s anchor firmly, surely clasp, As the billows near thee flow, God’s hand will close o’er thy feeble grasp, Take hold and never let go! [Refrain] 4 Though danger threatens or death alarms, In each rising flood of woe, Still cling to God’s everlasting arms, Take hold and never let go! [Refrain] Used With Tune: [O, turn not back in the Christian race]
