We Are Coming

Author: Alexcenah Thomas Appears in 3 hymnals First Line: “We are coming! we are coming!” Refrain First Line: Marching, marching home Lyrics: 1 “We are coming! we are coming!” Hear the merry, glad refrain, As it echoes o’er the valley, As it echoes o’er the plain, Lo! a band of happy children Marching neath the cross are we, And we journey to Mount Zion, With a ringing melody. Refrain: Marching, marching home! Blessed Savior, lo, we come! Blessed Saviour, lo, we come, Marching, marching home; With hearts and voices swelling, To thy praise we come marching home. 2 We are coming, we are coming, To the blessed mercy-seat, Where the song of our salvation We may joyfully repeat; Where the Lord of life will meet us, And His blessing will bestow, As we journey thro’ the valley, In our pilgrimage below. [Refrain] 3 We are coming, we are coming! Lord, accept the vows we bring; Lord, accept the love we offer, And accept the praise we sing! We would follow where Thou leadest, We would e’er with Thee abide, We would walk with Thee in patience, As we journey by Thy side. [Refrain] Used With Tune: [“We are coming! we are coming!”]
