Refrain: O the gates will open wide, Yes, the gates will open wide; When our Savior bids us welcome we will there with him abide; And upon that shining shore we will dwell forevermore, When the gates will open wide. 2 Tho’ we may be sad and weary as we toil along, We will make the way seem brighter with a cheering song; We will never be discouraged tho’ whate’er betide, For the gates with shining portals will be open wide. [Refrain] 3 ‘Tis a city full of beauty, for we have been told That the walls are made of jasper, and the streets are gold, Christ will welcome those who trust Him to His loving side, For the gates with shining portals will be open wide.
