Himnaro Esperanta proposes, in addition to PROPIOR DEO, BETHANY, and HORBURY, the tunes ST. WERBURGH (Stewart) and LIVERPOOL, which are unknown to me...

PROPIOR DEO seems more frequent in Britain; BETHANY is more usual in the United States.

Some of those saved from the sinking Titanic said that the orchestra played "Nearer, my God, to Thee" as the ship sank into the water. (Others rescued reported that that was not the last piece played.) In any case, is it definitively known which tune would have been played by the orchestra in this case? The ship was British, and likely (?) so was its orchestra director, and Sarah Flowers Adams was British, but both the text and Mason's tune antedated Sullivan's period of composing by several decades. What melody did the British use for it before the publication and popularisation of PROPIOR DEO? And of HORBURY? Answers to these questions will be warmly received.
