Eugene L. Clark

Clark studied music at Wheaton College and at Moody Bible Institute before joining Back to the Bible in 1950 as an organist. He later served as the program's music director, manager and producer. Herbert Buffum

He became a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church. He started preaching at seventeen years of age. He did city mission work up and down the Pacific Coast and later in small towns in Kansas. He began publishing hymns at the age of eighteen. Gloria Gaither

b. 1942 Hymnal Number: 237 Author (stanza 2) of "To Be Like Jesus" in Special Sacred Selections Gloria Gaither (born March 4, 1942) is a Christian songwriter, author, speaker, editor, and academic. She is the wife of Bill Gaither and also sang in the Bill Gaither Trio, one of the most influential groups in recent Christian music. She was born Gloria Lee Sickal in 1942 in Michigan, a daughter of pastor Lee Sickal and Dorothy Sickal. She spent most of her childhood and high school career in the Battle Creek area of Michigan, working a brief time for the Kellogg Company. When Sickal graduated from high school, she attended Anderson University in Anderson, Indiana. There, she triple majored in English, French, and Sociology. Upon her graduation, she took a job at Alexandria Monroe High School as a French teacher. There, she met Bill Gaither, who was teaching English at the time. She married Gaither in 1962, and they began writing songs recreationally. By the end of the 1960s, Gloria, Bill, and his brother Danny Gaither were touring steadily, as the Bill Gaither Trio. After touring with the Bill Gaither Trio, Gaither drew her focus to the Gaither Homecoming series. She has been an active presence in every video production. Gaither is currently the scriptwriter and narrator for the Homecoming series. In 1991, she attended Ball State University and received a Master of Arts in Literature. She taught as an adjunct professor at Anderson University for periods in the late 80s and late 90s. In 1996, she spearheaded the creation of Gaither Family Reources in Alexandria, Indiana, and currently serves as co-owner and managing director. In 2002, Gaither launched Homecoming:

Alfred Barratt

1879 - 1968 Hymnal Number: 527 Author of "Every Hour Of The Day" in Special Sacred Selections Barratt, Alfred. (New Springs, Wigan, Lancashire, England, October 25, 1879--December, 1968). Coming to the United States as a young man, he studied at Gordon College, Massachusetts, and Newton Theological Seminary, Mass. He was ordained in December, 1913, by the Baptists in Connecticut, then by the Wheeling WV Presbytery, Presbyterian Church in the USA, in 1924. He was pastor of Dallas, West Virginia, then of a series of churches in the Presbytery of Clarion, Pennsylvania. In 1937 he was awarded the Doctor of Literature degree by Bob Jones College. On November 26, 1962, he wrote the undersigned: "For 39 long years I have labored hard and steady writing sermons, children's story sermons, and hymns. London, 1776) was a singing teacher, music engraver, and clerk at the Scottish Church, London Wall. He published various church music collections, some intended for rural church choirs. Representative of his compilations are The Universal Psalmodist (1763)— published in the United States as The American Harmony (1769)—The Royal Harmony (1766), The New Universal Psalmodist (1770), and Psalmody in Miniature (1778). Paul Rader

1879 - 1938 Person Name: P. R. Hymnal Number: 550 Author of "Only Believe" in Special Sacred Selections Rader was one of the most powerful evangelistic preachers of the early 20th Century. He described himself as an ex-bellboy, ex-cowboy, ex-prospector, ex-football player, and ex-pugilist. He was pastor of Moody Church in Chicago, Illinois (1915–21), and followed founder Albert Simpson as president of the Christian and Missionary Alliance (1920–23). He also founded the Chicago Gospel Tabernacle in 1922 and pastored it for 11 years. Rader wrote many Gospel song lyrics and a few tunes, and was instrumental in founding of the Tabernacle Publishing Company. Rader was a pioneer of Christian broadcasting, as well: In the early 1920’s, the beginning days of radio, station WBBM in Chicago, Illinois, closed every Sunday. Rader received permission to use the studios, and for several years ran a 14-hour Christian program every Sunday. Church of God. Minister, music editor, and songwriter. Graduate of James D. Vaughan Conservatory. Organized the music department of the Church of God Publishing House as Tennessee Music and Printing Company in 1931. Served as music editor for a total of 23 years.
