our prayers must now employ,
and we must hymns of welcome sing
in strains of holy joy.
2 The everlasting Son
incarnate deigns to be;
himself a servant's form puts on,
to set his servants free.
3 Daughter of Sion, rise
to meet thy lowly King;
nor let thy faithless heart despise
the peace he comes to bring.
4 As judge, on clouds of light,
he soon will come again,
and his true members all unite
with him in heaven to reign.
5 All glory to the Son
who comes to set us free,
with Father, Spirit, ever One,

Stæder og Byer deslige,
Som pleie at være i stærkt Forbund,
De agte nu hverandre ondt,
Og monne hverandre svige.
7 Gud straffer og fuld haardelig
Med Pestilentse og deslig'
I mange Lande og Stæder;
Det er endog fuld skarpt et Ris;
Thi er den salig og meget vis,
Sit Levnet retter og bedrer.
8 Folk agter nu ingen Pønitents;
Thi straffer os Gud med Pestilents,
Dyrtid og anden Plage,
Hunger og Kummer og skarpe Sværd,
Som vi ei heller er andet værd,
For Synden vi sligt alt have.
9 Christus gav os Abvarsel slig,
Lad os betænke det hjertelig,
